The domain market saw stable growth in Q2 2010 according to domain name sales marketplace, Sedo.
During the period, over 11,000 domain names changed hands through the service, generating a total of USD $21.5 million in sales. Sedo says while the numbers are slightly under the first quarter, the first half of the year was much stronger compared to the first half of 2009. 38% more domains were sold in the first half of 2010 than in the first two quarters of 2009 and marks the highest sales numbers since 2008.
The average sales price during Q2 remained relatively static at USD $1,935.
Despite the introduction of new domain name extensions, .com remained the most popular extension, making up over 46% of all sales on the Sedo marketplace and 74% of all gTLD sales

While .com remains at the forefront, Sedo forecasts the introduction of new TLDs to impact the industry in Q3 and beyond and a shift in market trends as new and existing buyers are presented with a larger variety of domain options.
