Yes, if you have an Australian .com.au, .net.au, .asn.au, .org.au or .id.au domain name you wish to transfer to Domain Registration Services, we would be pleased to assist and can offer you free transfer services for your .au names.
Important:
Before starting the process, it's critical your name is listed as the registrant on the domain record and all the contact details are up to date. To check this, use our domain name WhoIs tool. Should any details need updating, please do so first before initiating a transfer.
To start the process, please complete a domain name transfer form. After you have completed our form, our team will check the details and follow up with you for verification or clarification if required.
Once this is done, an email is sent to the administrative contact email address listed on the domain record - which should be you. This is why it is important to ensure your domain record is up to date. You will need to confirm after having received the email that you want the transfer to go ahead, which is usually done by clicking a special link in the email within 7 days of receipt. This step is a security precaution to ensure the domain name isn't transferred by an unauthorised third party.
After confirmation, Domain Registration Services will notify the auDA; the registry operator for the .au service. The auDA will check the status of the domain name and if everything is in order, the transfer will proceed. Your domain name will be transferred to our services and will be fully paid up to the registration expiry date noted prior to transfer.
Please note: the domain name transfer process only changes the registrar that looks after your domain name. After transfer, your domain name will still point to your current hosting account. If you would like to also open a web hosting account with Domain Registration Services; that will need to be done separately. We offer a number of web hosting plans packed with great features and by hosting with us, you'll know all your online presence needs are in good hands, right here in Australia.
Opening a web hosting account can be done before or after the domain transfer process.
