FTP is a standardised method of transferring files between computers, regardless of the platform or operating system each computer is running on. FTP services can be accessed through a command prompt, or through an FTP client program .
Sub FTP accounts allow you to provide separate FTP accounts which have allocated web space for these users under your domain name, but without giving them access to your own web site files. For example you can create a sub user called 'friend' under your domain name myfuturedomain.com. You then specify a password for username friend, lets say you give your friend a password of freespace. You now have provided a web site www.myfuturedomain.com/~friend with its own ftp access and a username and password that you chose.
Sub FTP accounts can be setup and modified via the Web Users section of your Control Panel.
